Abstract

Undergraduate Research Day Poster Introduction: '¢ Bees make up a significant portion of pollinators '¢ 35% of global crop production comes from plants dependent on pollinators (Klein et al., 2007) (Potts et al., 2016) '¢ Crop production in absence of pollinators would decrease by 3-8% (Aizen et al., 2009) '¢ Bee population decrease in North America of up to 59% in certain species (Colla et al., 2008) (Ghazoul et al., 2005) (Grixti et al., 2009) (Potts et al., 2010) '¢ Bee population decrease in Europe of up to 25% (Biesmeijer et al., 2006) (Kosior et al., 2007) (Potts et al., 2010) '¢ Human disturbance of bee habitats has led to decline in populations (Brown et al., 2024) (Oijia et al., 2024) (Steinert et al., 2020) '¢ Actions such as deforestation, urbanization, and modern farming have a negative effect on habitats '¢ Agricultural land use has substantial negative effects on bee populations (Ockermuller et al., 2023)
